The Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS) is the national trade association representing producers and marketers of distilled spirits sold in the United States.
DISCUS is a MyPlate National Strategic Partner in the USDA Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion (CNPP) Nutrition Communicators Network. This website includes key information from the Dietary Guidelines for Americans about standard drinks and moderation.
According to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, there are some adults who should not drink alcohol, such as women who are pregnant. Alcohol abuse can cause serious health and other problems. Even drinking in moderation may pose risks.
